There are events in one’s life that can change everything. Sudden, unpredictable turning points, after which a return to the way things were is no longer possible and the effects for the future are not yet foreseeable. Lives, societies, and even history itself are no longer the same.
Can these moments be invoked, manifested as gestures or language, in our bodies or through media? With dance, language, sound, and image, Mashaherifard addresses this phenomenon of the in-between time.

TRUCK TRACKS RUHR #5
Germany’s Ruhr Area (“Ruhrgebiet”) takes the stage in 49 moments. Refocused and enriched by short audio files. Over the course of one year, 49 new views will be staged of the Ruhr Valley. A truck as a mobile auditorium drives through the city of Mülheim, opens the view through a window and frames the city outside like the portal of a theatre.
Mülheim is the fifth tour of Truck Tracks Ruhr, a concept by Rimini Protokoll, produced by Urbane Künste Ruhr, which will also tour through two further cities of the region.

In Remote Tehran, a group of 40 people set off into the city wearing headphones. They are guided by a synthetic voice – as we know them from GPS navigators. The encounter with this artificial intelligence leads the group to perform an experiment on themselves. How are joint decisions made? Who do we follow when we are guided by algorithms? 40 people watch each other, make individual decisions and yet remain always part of a group. While the artificial intelligence observes human behavior from a distance, the voice step by step sounds more familiar. Along the way, binaural recordings and film scores provide a soundtrack for the urban landscape. The journey through the city feels more and more like a collective film.
